For diagnostic studies, patients can be referred by any registered doctor (as per HIC rules). Referrals from GPs usually last 12 months from first date of service and referral from specialists last three months from first date of service.

Written referrals are required for all types of studies. For CPAP and specialised sleep disorder tests patients must have a referral from a Sleep/Respiratory Physician.
